I've got 44x18-20 turf tires on the new/old JD 1070 FWD I bought. I will be using it to clear snow from my gravel driveway and I'm thinking chains would be a good idea. I see that the chains are offered in 5/16 or 3/8 inch sizes. What should I get for use on a frozen gravel driveway? Also, what is the proper fit for the chains? I've read posts where you need to tailor fit new chains to your tires, but is that normal if you buy them for your specific tire size? And what is the proper fit? Tight with no slop to the chain or what? With the big turf tires I have I don't have a lot of room for a loose chain to move around before it would hit the inside of the fender.

Thanks for your advice. This forum is great for us that need help like this.

My concern with screw-in studs would be that they might fall out and end up in another tire that I don't want them in!

Are my concerns valid?
