.... it's only the extra length dangling that will slap the underside of the fender if I go too fast...

I found 15" flat rubber bungies at Lowes. They work great for keeping the chains, and loose ends, tight:

Hey cdaigle430, how did new your tire chains work out for you, good I hope.

Hey irvingj, thanks for the tire chain information, did you have to modify them to install because I did not see our tire size on the box label (26 x 12.0 -12), also did you have enough clearance on the inside or do you think a pair of 1 1/2" wheel spacers would be helpful? Thanks.

Oh man it was awesome, no issues with traction at all and its all ice underneath. the woodmaxx SB60 and the tire ladder style tire chains along with the loader and loader edge tamers we perfect for the 12 inches we got. Two other things Id like to note is the new gear assembly I ordered and installed for the tac-no freezing and no lock ups even with the negative temps. the Berco cab is also awesome with the 35 mph wind gusts, my only complaint is my feet were cold-had to stop and warm up in the middle of the clean up. i think its just a matter of adding another pair of socks next time.
With the Woodmaxx SB60 she stayed in or close to the 540 range on the tac, even in the 2 foot snow drifts. The LED lights I installed did great along with the electric chute and electric deflecter. I am very happy with this setup this storm for sure.
The ice coating made the SB60 feet work so well...
I will take a picture of the box label as soon as I can-the chains I have are at least one ladder to long but I can cut it off, for now I zip tied and bungy corded it all snug.

Irvingj, I like those chains they look like they would do the job. Another tractor friend I was talking with yesterday was telling me the same about chains, he has only a two wheel drive tractor and he said chains help a lot. Do you have any other info about the chains or where to look? I figured just start searching tractor chains.

I have used chains for years here in Wisconsin, until I sold my old 400 Case and bought a 4wd 1754 HST.
When you put on the chains, tighten them as good as you can, then go make a lap around the yard. Stop and re-buckle them. Then repeat once more. Now they will stay put and not fly around and hit the fender.
Even then, i would add a coupe bungee cords across the diameter of the tire, to snug up any slack.
