If you can swing it go for the ones Gordon and Chilly have. I bet the traction you two get with those is amazing.

I don't know where to get those kind of tire chain's, the only tire chain's they sell at where I bought my tractor (Union Farm Equipment) are Aquiline Talons, that's the kind I bought in (07), broke 7 times so far, and if my video came through, you can see that my chains are all over the place, they don't stay on straight.

They do work well, I've been quite happy with them.

Oldpath05, I and friends have bought numerous sets from a place in Tamworth NH. Windy Ridge Logging Supply, 1-800-639-2021. They generally have about every size in stock, you may need to cut them down to make them fit. I'm betting if Union wont get them, check at Hammond, I know Pen Bay Tractor used to have them at the Farm Show (if they're still in business). Also Halls in Windham may have them. I'll think of some others and add to the list. Well worth it, my rears are Trygg, the fronts are Tellefdyne (sp?).

Windy Ridge doesnt have a web site, kind of odd place to deal with, but you cant beat their price. Local loggers all go over there to buy their chains.

Thanks for the replies! I've seen differing reports on how tight the chains should be on the tire. Some suggest to have it quite tight but I did see at least one manufacturer who recommended a fair amount of slippage. In fact, it may have been Tellfsdal.

I didn't discount the Tellefsdal chains but I don't believe I could locate a dealer. I'll try looking again as your chains look pretty aggressive. How do they do in the early spring mud, especially on hills?

The studded chains should run loose. The general recommendation is to be able to put your fist between the tire wall and the side chain. Looser is better than too tight.

Last December when I was checking if Union Farm could get a different brand chains, at the time, they said no. I should of check Hammond Tractor, since there close to each other, next time I get a chance, I'll stop in, and see what they have.

This thread was resurrected from a couple years ago.

I did wind up buying Trygg tire chains that are studded and can't say enough good things about them. They've made a world of difference on a tractor that wouldn't go anywhere before I put them on. Amazing!
