tire chains on ag tires?

I have heard many say they hate putting on chains. I wonder if they know this easy method. It uses a strong bungee or rope thru the wheel openings. I you have solid wheels you can do the same thing by making a rope loop about 4 feet long and hooking it on the tire lugs near the top of the tire - works just as good.

I ran extreme HD ladder chains on R-1's on my previous tractor with no problems. They were VERY heavy and a PITA to install. But......they were the answer to plowing my driveway when it would ice over.

If by hooks or curls you are referring to the cross chains where they attach to the side chains, you will want the smooth side of the hook next to the tire, if the open side is against the tire the hooks will eat at the side walls of the tire as it flexs and works.

Thanks for the answer LouNY, I learned something today! The circumferential chains on my buddy's tractor ride much lower on the tire sidewall, at or near the bead seat on the rim.

Second vote for returning them and getting a set of the studded euro style chains as pictured below. I have run up an down my road with a 14% grade on solid sheet ice with no issues.
