Hi,
I have 3 tires filled. I noticed that the filled tires don't have any readable pressure. Actually one did and it was low so I added too much air, had to let it out and only got fluid to come out. The other fluid filled ones didn't read any pressure at all. Do I have a problem? Tires look good even under a load. thanks, brett w

For what I know about it, one should put the same air pressure in the filled tires as unfilled.
Measure the air pressure with the valve stem above the fluid level line. If the tire is over-filled, that might present a problem.

My thoughts exactly. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

3? 3? Only the rear tires should be filled

Are you reading the pressure with the valve stems at the top so they will be above the fluid level? Since you say ( only got fluid to come out ) it sound like your valve stem was not at top. For the tires on which you had no pressure reading, this might be due to your pressure gauge being designed to read air pressure, not fluid pressure.

If there is fluid above the valve stems even when directly up, you have too much fluid in the tires.

In addition to what aloha said, check into a low pressure gauge. I have one for my tractor and ATV. I think it goes up to 20 PSI.

While I'm a bit confused as to why there's THREE tires filled, one doesn't have to limit filling tires to JUST THE REARS.... I know a number of folks that fill fronts to add counter-wieght for heavy mowers and such. Not the most common thing, but very effective.

Also, due to the viscosity of water/fluid in tires, as opposed to air, liquid filled tires can be run at an ever-so-slightly lower pressure under SOME conditions. I've ran 12 to 14 PSI in rears that are air-filled (radials) when plowing, and lowered that to (as low as) 9 PSI on the SAME TRACTOR after fluid filling the tires.

All in all, the BEST recommendation is to stay with the same pressures, filled or UN-filled.

Also, if your tires are fluid filled the pressure reading you get when the valve stem is at the top of the tire is actually lower than what the actual pressure is at the ground due to the weight of the water. Each foot of fluid is about 1/2 psi. So with a 4 foot tire the pressure on the ground is about 2 psi greater than what you measure in the guage. Doesn't sem like much, but if we are talking about running 10psi in out tires that amounts to a 20% difference.

Three tires filled?? Thre's been a many a tractor turn over with one rear tire filled and the other not. That's with a FEL. You didn't say if the unfilled was on the front or rear or FEL. Hope it's on the front.

There is a pressure guage made for fluid filled tires. I bought one from Tractor Supply. It's spring loaded and you have to take the reading while it's on the valve stem. With the guage you can check the pressure with the valve at the top or bottom or anywhere between.

Like another post said and I do the same. Rear tires I run 9-12 psi. with fluid. I have run as low as 6. It depends on what I'm pulling and the ground condition. The Farmtrac 80 I bought last year came with Good Year tires. That set says to run 16 psi. I don't like that much air. With the loader the tractor will slide on grass on a hill worse than a lower pressure. It also pulls better with a lower pressure. The tires have more ground contact.

I bought the tractor used and it had 3 tires filled. For some reason, one of the front tires is not filled. Thanks, bw

One front tire probably had a leak, and after fixing it, didn't bother to put fluid back in it. Easy way to 'fix' things if going to sell it anyway.
What are they filled with?
