I have a TSC here locally and a Northern Tool store in Birmingham. I have searched their website as well as Wal-Mart and Pep Boys for tractor tires. When I purchased my tractor I noticed the rear tires were gauged pretty bad due to improper adjustment of the stabilizer bars which allowed the implements to swing and dig deeply into the tires. I used them last year and I believe I could get another year or 2 before I have to replace them however if I could find a good sale on a set I would go ahead and buy them now. Who do you recommend for quality, price and service on tires?

I purchased my first tractor last year and it needed tires. I got quotes from about a dozen places (locally and online) and I ended up buying from the small local shop in the small town that I live in. I was really surprised that he had the best value and he only charged $25 mounting for the rears and $10 for the fronts. Keep in mind that not all tires of the same size are created equal. Be sure to compare the plies and the weight of the tires. I was really surprised to see that there was often more than 50 pounds of rubber difference between same size tires. Also same thing goes for the tubes (if needed). Cheap tubes can easily be 10# lighter than the more expensive tubes. Given the amount of work it is to replace a tube I decided not to be a cheapskate and save $20 on tubes.

As far as smaller tires, I was borrowing my uncles 30hp JD and I ripped a small front tire on a downed tree. I replaced his tires on the front and I think Nebraska Tire was the best price by far but that was not the case for my larger tire. I guess the short story is that you will need to price shop if your are looking for the best deal because one store may be the best for one tire but not another.

You might want to check out the Tucker Tire Co. in Tenn. They list a lot of tractor tires/wheels on eBay... If they have what you need, the prices are pretty fair, and some items have free shipping.

I would always buy from a local dealer that has taken the proper training for the size and type of tires that you intend on purchasing. Always remember the local guy may be a dollar or two more but they also buy there groceries, gas, insurance and other stuff locally and probably donate to 4-H or local charities that keep your community alive. Internet money goes away and usually has no warranty value. I have Titans/Goodyears and they are great but we also have the best dealers in the west at Les Schwab they stand behind there service as well as the product.
