Thanks for the replies. I think I need to trash my bits and pieces and check out some of the suggestions above. There are a few places where I need a hose to stay put for a long period of time, without constant movement. I can use the "kinkers" there.

Whenever I need a housewarming present I give a 60 foot Craftsman rubber hose with a copy of the warranty...

As far as I know... they are still in use or their replacements are.

Once I used my first black commercial hose, I never bought another green one again. They make them green so you won't see it from the mower seat!

I admit that while I can kink the black lifetime commercial hose, its much easier to unkink from the nozzle end by swinging a loop back up the line and keep going.

Once used 200ft of the black hose as a camp shower "solar water heater" and while it wasn't as nice as a home shower, it was acceptable!

In 2002 i bought a 50' goodyear RUBBER hose, ive abused it, left it outside in freezing weather full of water, ran it over with trucks and tractors and whatever other abuse you can think of. Now its almost 2015 and i still have it and it looks and works like the day I bought it, cost $39.95 when i bought it and the absolute best hose i have ever owned. When buying hoses stay away from anything thats vinyl, always go with rubber. I saw a nice rubber hose other day at tractor supply, think it was $49 but looks like it would last a lifetime.

Buy quality hose. The stuff you get in the drugstore for $2.99 will last about a day; it's probably fine for apartment dwellers. As mentioned several times above, the good stuff isn't cheap but will last an awfully long time. I've got some good hose sitting outside under the snow right now. When it thaws I'll drain it and put it into the barn, but it was quality when I bought it 20 or 30 years ago, and I have no doubt it will be fine next time I call on it.

I found some 125' hoses at Costco. They seem to be kink free.

A lot of contractors around here use 3/4" jack hammer hose and add bibb couplings. Heavier than the dickens, but can handle 300PSI and you'll never buy another. Check with your local construction supply.

I can put up with an occasional kink. What I need is a dog-proof hose.

Good thread, boys! I finally got a couple of decent hoses, Lowe's I think where CFO bought them, and they seem to be good so far. Bird, I like the looks of that one you posted link to. It'll be on me list.
