I am finally making my purchase this week I believe. Thanks to many of you with your thoughts and wisdom.

I am purchasing the BX23 - since its somewhat on sale with the new BX24 out.

I have the option to go with AG or Turf tires. I feel like the turf tires will have plenty of traction for what I am going to be doing since the tractor is pretty light anyway. I do have an area that can be a little moist that I will be clearing, but I really would rather not rip up the lawn if its not necessary. can anybody give me an idea? I am mostly going to moving things, stone, gravel, dirt and also taking up some sod.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

By Ag do you mean true Ag tires with the bar tread or do you mean the unique to Kubota kind of zig-zag tread? That looks like it would be easier on the lawn, but you better wait until someone more knowledgeable than I chimes in on this. At this point, I think you feel better about the turfs. What does the dealer think?

R4's would be a good choice based on your discription-

If you mean R1 Ags, then go with the turf tires. The lugs on Ag tires can be very very rough on a nice lawn.

Hello all. I am new here but I have been in the tire business for nearly 30 years and might be qualified to help out a bit on this question.

I also assume, when you speak of ag tires, that you are referring to R1. I don't think you would be happy with what these tires would do to your lawn. I can pretty much guarantee a nice divot every time you turn, especially if the ground is even a little bit moist. An R4 (industrial) tread would be a good compromise between the R1 and the turf (R3), but even this is likely to be a bit rough on your lawn.

TBH, I am faced with the same decision. Today, they are supposed to deliver my new BX2230 with FEL. I am waaaaay excited!!! I ordered it with the turf tires, but seeing as how I do have pastures and timber to maintain, I intend to order another set of wheels and equip them with the R1 tires. Then when I need the traction, I just have to jack up the tractor and change them out.

I am also considering foam filling all of the tires as my timber is quite thorny. I have never run a foam filled tire and wonder what experience others may have with them.

Why not just use the anti leak goo instead of foam and maintain the flexibility designed into the tire? Doesn't the foam make an almost solid feeling tire?

That's not what I am told but again, I have never run foam filled. Supposedly, it is designed to approximate the deflection of air filled tires.

Might look into R1W tires also. Someone on TBN bought a Kubota (maybe a bx) and went through quite a bit looking for tires. Anyway, supposedly more aggressive and better weight distribution than R4's.

I think Henro said about the same thing in threads a long time ago. I believe he said he was very happy to have the foam-filled tires.
