Tires for 2910

It seems likely that this has already been covered but I can't search it out in the archives so... I'm ordering a 2910 soon and am trying to decide between Industrial and Ag tires. I'll be using the tractor for blowing a 600yd steep, gravel drive with a front mount blower and for hauling wood out of pretty hilly bush in the summer. I'm planning on using chains in the winter to cope with the ice and the dealer thinks Industrials are the way to go. I'm a bit concerned about traction on hills in the woods though. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Tom D, first line of attack, If you can't hijack MarkC's tires, then considering your summertime use, I would say the Ag's but then I don't know how they would be in the snow. Soooo, probably best to wait for Bird, Thomas , MarkC, etc to pipe up than my guesstimate!

Yep, Tom, this has been discussed a lot and it just depends on what you are going to do with the tractor.
R1 (ag) tires for traction.
Turf tires for minimal turf damage if you're going to be mowing a lawn (which you don't mention).
R4 (Industrial) tires for a compromise on traction, but better puncture resistance.
Apparently you've eliminated turf tires and don't intend to mow a lawn. Now all you have to decide is whether puncture resistance or traction is most important. Of course, either one is fairly strong; I'm running the R1s myself.

I'll add a little food for thought. If it were me I would look at your summer conditions. If you have a great deal of mud then I would say R1's. If deep mud is not the norm. My R4's have worked well in the woods and on the hills. For me, the added beenie of the R4's is the extra size for liquid fill. Loading the tires did more for traction than anything else on my tractor. I think chains will make your winter tire choice moot. People do use chains in the woods when conditions go bad in the non snow months.

I recall that there was an issue with R4s and front chains. The clearance to the steering arm is too small to allow for chains. May be an area to investigate is chains are required.
