Kubota/L245DT
This is all very helpful information on lead/lag for 4wd tractors. Unfortunately, I don't know what the lead/lag requirements are for my tractor. I have a Kubota L245 DT that I purchased and am currently restoring. I was told by Keller Brothers that the turf tires it calls for are 13.6-16.1 for the back and 25x7.50-15 for the front. I have the right size tires on the back but the front tire sizes were way off. I have checked several places and have yet to find someone who sells the front turf tires. Can anyone recommend a good place to buy tractor tires? If they don't make that size anymore, any suggestions on a proper substitute for the front with the proper size rear turf tires on?

Thanks,
Greg

Hi Greg.
Don't know anything about tires but just wanted to say hi, I also just bought a L245DT 2 weeks ago and am restoring it. This is my first tractor it does not run yet he started it for 20 seconds then it died has been setting 2 years am cleaning out diesel new filter all new fuel lines etc. hope to start it next week. Does yours run? I paid $2,300.00 for it I will also need tires for it so let me know if you find a deal on tires. I dont know where you live but I live in Florida. Nice to see someone else bought a old tractor like I did, hope all goes well with yours and mine.

Dennis:

Mine doesn't run yet but my father-in-law and I just finished completely rebuilding the engine. We mounted it the other day and I'm moving on to the next phase. I paid $500 for mine but I've put at least another $2,000 in it so far. We are replacing or rebuilding almost everything as we go along. I would like to paint it before I'm through. If I can just find some tires for it, I'd be much happier. You can e-mail me if you like.

Hi,
My name is Richard Cristdahl and I bought my L245DT new in 1975-6 or about that time. I used it when I was building homes, but now I have 10 acres and puts with it.

I have mud treads but when I buy my tires I get them at Les Schwab. I believe their nationwide tire distributors and if they don't have them I bet the can get them.

If anyone knows of someone parting out their L245DT I need a right wheel housing, its on the end of the axel and houses a large gear.

I'm new and it's real nice to find fellow owners to talk to.

Richard

Thanks Kenny. They may have something close in the Lawn/Garden tractor section. I don't see a turf tire in the agricultural section though. The closest I found was a 25x10.5-15. I guess that's wider than the called for 25x7.50-15. Hopefully that would work. The only other thing I can think of is to buy car tires. I converted the measurements and I think 195/65/15 tires should be almost the exact same size.

Greg:
Put your size in their ‘search’ it will come up with two, FLO-TRAC RIB HF-1 41F378
size: 25x7.50-15 NHS (TL) and FLO-TRAC RIB HF-1 41F393
size: 25x7.50-15 NHS (TL). The first one is a four ply and the second is a six ply. Both ar great looking tires…KennyV.

Greg…
I listed the part #’s backwards…The second one # 41F393 is the four ply and the first one # 41F378 is the six ply. You can go directly from search to their detailed tire specifications chart. That will show you everything about the tire and rim requirements. KennyV.

Thanks Kenny. Will the rib tires give any traction though? It's a 4wd tractor and I was interested in something with some tread. My local farm supply store carries a Carlisle with a rib pattern in my size. I've been looking for a turf type tire or something with a light traction pattern.

Thanks,

Greg

Greg…
You are right rib will give no traction, your conversion to metric size is correct. Now I feel bad because I didn’t pay attention that you wanted turf tires /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif. So I’ll continue the quest for traction type tires for you. KennyV.
