Tires R4 on the Front/ AG in the rear?

Agree with triple R,
Get the rolling radius the same and the tractor won't care what type of tires you are using. I suspect you will have to buy new rims for the AG (R1) tires ince as stated quite frequently the R4 tires are a lower wider profile.

been here before and I don't do it anymore!!! It is not the same in tilled soil where the tires are running on the core of the tire or at the base of the bar and not on top of it. Go buy the tires, get it in the loose soil and drive it 100 feet and try and get it out of four wheel drive!

When operating in loose soils I doubt any combination would allow you to shift from 4WD. Operating in loose dirt in 4WD is the least strenuous operation there is. Running on hard ground or black top will put more stress on the drive train since it is more difficult for the tires to slip.

Interesting post....
Circumference is the issue, get that right and you're good to go. Playing with air pressure?...not sure that is the correct path...
