Why would you buy a TLB L39 over say a L or M series tractor? Are they really that more durable because they construction class?

They are built with a much heavier integrated frame to support the loader and backhoe. The hoe sets much closer to the tractor and uses the same seat as the tractor. The loader and backhoe are as strong as you will find on that size tractor with much stronger hydraulic power than the L and M series. The FOPS, falling object protection system, meets OSHA standards for commercial sites and is not available on non commercial models.

Great tractor for those who need a TLB but they are pricey.

You will get better posts than mine because I am a new tractor owner myself, but I am of the strong opinion of 'yes, it is much more durable.'

I bought an L35 last year and can't say enough good things about it. There are a few key aspects which lend to its durability. One key factor is the heavy subframe which, to my understanding, is almost mandatory for a tractor that uses the backhoe under rough conditions. The lubrication system is better. Many other things.

The L35 is pretty much the way that I like to have things - meaning that it is most likely over-engineered to my needs. If I go to the effort of buying a tractor along with all that means in terms of money outlay, I don't want to find myself with a tool that can't do all of the jobs I need it to.

So anyway, there are other opinions which are probably along the line of saying that you need to figure out your needs and then purchase according to those requirements. That spending more is just a waste of money. Other people say that you should buy as much tractor as you can afford.

For me, the TLBs are a very good tractor that gives me an extra margin of performance capability. In my mind, the extra margin is worth the higher price.

Good luck.

Interesting...... I saw one at the Kubota dealer and it looked like it was all bussiness.

What does a unit like this run?

I agree with both previous posters points. I also think alot depends on how much time you are spending in the seat and the type of work you are doing. If it varies quite a bit, I think the L39 would be a good choice. It's like a swiss army knife. I have had mine for about 10 months and have almost 170 hrs on it and will probably have 225-250 at the 1 year mark. I would guess that 50 percent of those hrs. are BH related and 50 % FEL (Split between Grapples and regular bucket). I have not had the BH off yet but I'm about to go on an implement binge so I'm gonna have to pull it off soon. I don't know that an L3940 with the BH and FEL wouldn't of been able to do what I have done. But I think it would of been harder on the Tractor. I have a 21 hp CUT and that played a roll in my decision to go the L39 route. You should be able to get one for around $31,000-$34,000 depending on how many options you add. Let us know if you have any more questions.

That seems like a decent price. I have a quote for 25k on a M5040 and I would think another 6-8k for BH, so the price would be the same. The TBL 39 has enough loader to lift a round bale which is a need for me.

Still don't think I can chock down that kind of cash. Wife might kill me.

That would put my total with implements about $36,790.

I'm in the same boat and posted a thread in the owning/operating section this morning. I'm looking at a little higher hp than the 39 and was considering a M59 or L/M series tractor. No one has responded yet, they must all work a different shift than me:) Either that or I posted in the wrong section:eek:

I agree if its durability you are looking for on hard digging jobs with a BH then a TLB is the way to go. I've almost got myself talked into mine.

With several of you still looking it is only fair to say everything comes with some trade offs. Kubota’s TLB series does not allow you to remove the loader which is important to some. The HST transmission is not available on the L39 although it is available on the L59 and B26 TLB’s. The nicer 3pt hitch systems with telescoping lower arms are not available. The PTO hp is lower than the equivalent horsepower B, L and M series tractors due to the larger hydraulic pumps. Some have been unhappy with the high gear ratios in High range HST or gears 11 and 12 with the GST transmission. These are more road gears on the TLB series and not very functional for dirt work.

Mark,

You may not know the answer to this but, is the 3 pt. hitch option (have to pay extra) on the M59 the nicer one you are talking about? If not can one even be used on the TLB's or is that not possible. I do want to use a box blade and brush hog with what ever I decide to buy.

Thanks

The 3pt hitch is standard on the B26 and L39 but I understand it is an option on the M59. The 3pt hitch systems for the TLB’s are very useable they just don’t offer some of the deluxe features like the telescoping lower arms that are available on the grand L series.
