may I be so bold as to what is a spudwrench? is it anything like a potato turning tool?

A spud wrench has an alignment drift pin on one end, typically used by steel erectors to align the bolt holes in structural steel. The other end is either adjustable, open or box configuration....but of course you knew that !?!

There's also a plumbing tool called a spud wrench. Used on old radiators.
