TN Series Hydraulics

For those of you who bought a TN series tractor with a loader, did you go for the higher output hydraulics package?

Are you glad that you upgraded? How much more is it to upgrade?

The other manufactures do not seem to go for the higher output hydraulic pumps.

I went with the standard 12.5 GPM. I didn't want to wait for a special order and I haven't seen too many implements that require more than that. If I get something that needs more juice I'll use a PTO pump and save the wear and tear on my tractor pump. The 16.8 GPM pump comes with a cooler, that would be neat to have.

My TN has the higher output pump and I like the responsiveness of the loader. My backhoe has its own PTO pump. I'm not sure how much less responsive the lower output pump would be, but I like the ability the Quick Attach bucket and the hydraulic outputs mounted right behind the bucket which give me the ability to use standard output Skid Steer attachments.

I have the standard pump on my TN and you will be hard pressed to find any implements where you need the bigger pump. It is nice if you do a lot of hydraulic work which I do and I still do not see where the standard pump is inferior. It is plenty strong enough and fast enough to run the loader, 3 pt., disk, planter and just about anything else I can plug into the back of that thing.

The advantage of the bigger pump that I can see is the cooler. Of course just cause I have not found a need for the bigger pump doesn't mean you won't so who knows. What is your use for the tractor? If you plan on using mostly a loader get the standard pump as it is more then adequate to handle the loader. Also, if your dealer has a couple tractors set up try them out and see. If you see an advantage with the larger pump over the standard pump post it here so I can learn. Hope this helps.

The big pump, cooler AND powershuttle option package should add about $800 and is a great deal. I don't know how much addditional the pump and cooler would add to a mechanical shuttle tractor, but I'd get the P/S.
