Good information, folks. I never thought of mice getting into the wiring. But...I should have known, given that my generator stopped working when the mice "pee'd" down the coil wire and rusted the coil.

Little rodents...where's that cat when I need one????

Now folks...it's getting worse. The new battery is now completely drained and I had to jump-start the tractor.

When I got it started, the safety horn beeps, the lights don't work nor do the guages.

I checked for gnawed wires and such...but everything is clean.

Anyone have any suggestions before I start spending money on this electrical problem?

Thank you...Chuck

Make sure you fixed the wires correctly and that you do not have another broken wire.

If the new battery is drained from being connected.. I'd look for a bad alternator.. perhaps a shorted diode in the triode.. etc.

many of those instrument clusters like a good stable voltage at 'x' level.. if the charge system is bad.. and you had to jump it to get it started.. I'd expect to see electrical phenomina

Yesterday, I replaced the "shunter" switch that controls the headlights. Still I have the problem of the temperature and fuel gauge not displaying while the safety horn keeps beeping. Also, the battery continues to drain even when the switch is in the "off" position.

I looked underneath the hood to see if there's any wires contacting metal, etc. Nothing!!

Anyone have this similar situation?

The next move is to get the New Holland mechanic out and look at it, but that will cost some dollars.

Thanks...CL

Get a test lamp with an aligator clip. Disconnect the positive battery cable and put the test lamp in line.. If there si a sufficient draw, the lamp should glow. Now.. leave that in line and go tot he fuse box.. start pulling fuses till the light goes out. When you isolate the ofending circuit.. start tracing wires from the fuse box out.

Hi folks...the ongoing saga of the switch/relay/light problem on the TN65.

Ended up calling the dealer and they hauled the tractor back to their shop for further investigation.

I'll let you know what the problem is.

Kind of strange to have electrical problems with only 685 hours on it.

Not really... I've seen brand new tractors with bad electrical problems from small problems like insuficient ground.. and a bad relay.. etc.

Good luck

Mice got into my TN75D and "broke" my temp guage. Now they just got into backhoe boom and ate through 2 bucket curl hydraulic hoses.

I just love them bas****s
