I've noticed over the past couple of months the fuel consumption on my 2000 TN65 is higher. For the winter, I've poured about 1/4 can of diesel fuel conditoner, but that's all I've done. I use the same diesel fuel source as before. There's only 736 hours on the engine.

Anyone have this problem? Is it time to change the fuel filter (it was changed about 100 hours ago) or is it something else?? Is the new type of diesel fuel the cause??

I wish I had this problem. Mine won't stay running long enough to burn much.
I think for this a good servicing would be a good idea. New fuel and air filters. It never hurts at least.

I'm seriously starting to wonder about the fuel myself. I've never in my life had problems with a diesel I owned till now. I know that any time the government tells us to use something because they say it's better then to proceed with caution.
From what I've been reading ULSD does not go as far per tank as the old diesel but my truck hasn't really noticed. I don't know what to think yet.

You sure you haven't been spending more seat time? :D

That's a good point. If his is like mine it has one heck of an air conditioning system. My house doesn't have AC at all and if I could I would be finding excuses to go do some tractor work and stop sweating so much. It's typically around a hundred degrees here in the summer. Or in the 80's and humid as can be after a front goes through.

Visted the dealer this morning and mentioned the high fuel consumption. Come to find out...everyone else in the area is complaining of the same thing.

We believe - and could be wrong - the new formulated diesel fuel does not provide the power output nor the "gas mileage" that we used to have. He also said it appears to be worse in the northeast part of the country.

Comments anyone??

my 3930 is getting poor fuel usage also gone through twice amount of fuel this year then last year in the hay fields and getting less hay i too believe it has something to do with the fuel

I have no idea how i would be able to measure fuel consumption accurately. With my car it is easy. same road, same conditions, almost no variables. With my TN70A there are so many variables I would have no idea if consumption has changed.

Over time you get use to how much fuel the tractor uses for a specific task in a specific area. When you start using more fuel for that task and others you know your useage is up. I know I am using a lot more fuel for baling then normal:(

Are you'll buying fuel by the gallon or by the pound? Serious has anyone noticed any pump calibration problems after the rapid increase in price. See several stations have to change out fuel pumps cause their pumps wouldn't price $4.00 fuel correctly. Several had to start selling it by doubling the price on the pump to get them to work correctly. 55 gallon barrel 3/4 full is not 55 gallons!!!!!

What does this have to do with tractors using more fuel?
