3-Point Hitch TN70 3 point hitch

My TN70 has started something wierd. I can raise the 3 point hitch normally, but to let it back down I have to hit the clicker button up on the wheel well. The short button raises the hitch normally and when I hit the long button it does go back down normally. However, when I raise it manually and try to lower it back down with the same lever, it won't go unless I hit the long button on the wheel well???? Any suggestions as to what to do. Confused!

The long button on the lift-o-matic control must be latched in to operate the hitch manually with the quadrant lever. If that doesn't work correctly, use a 10mm deep socket to tighten the lift-o-matic operating cable. It is located at the rear of the tractor above the hydraulic dipstick. Keep track of how many turns you give it; and don't tighten more than necessary to get proper function back.

Rick, does that use a pilot operated check valve or is it solenoid operated on the 'long' button for lowering the lift ( venting the oil ).

Neat setup either way.. But way too 'fly by wire' for me...

The longer lift-o-matic lever (button?) should latch in place when pushed firmly in nearly flush with the housing.
Chris, the whole set up is cable operated, no electronics involved. Just a second set of controls operating the position control valve spool.

The interesting thing is that the curved widget in the back that contacts the roller to stop the Lift-O-Matic lift (that is adjusted with a flat metal lever loosening a 22mm nut-- guess why I know that bit of trivia on the nut size...) is a spiral segment (or maybe just an offset circle segment). This is evidently so that the implement doen't stop with a huge jerk like hitting a brick wall and causing a hydraulic shock, but stops more gradually.

Maybe this is a common design, but it's the first time I saw one. Thought it was clever.

I like that even better... In 50ys when you need parts you can just make them and it should still work... unlike some other fly-by-wire controlls that may be obsolete before the lifespan of the machine is used up..
