well does it still blow cold air even with the noise ? if so id have them do just the clutch on the comp. unless its still covered with warrantee. clutch is much cheaper then unit and thats more then likely the noise just my 2 cents

Just curious why you think it is the clutch and not the compressor. I expect it ot be the bearings in the compressor, not the clutch. The clutch is an on/off device and when it turns on, it trying to spin up the compressor that causes the noise. If it was the clutch wouldn't he noise be happening all the time?

This squeal lasted about 10 seconds and would recur about every 3-5 mins and quit. She had the A/C on and was just going at a steady pace

sounded intermintting to me Andy I'll Have to wait for more info low hours on Tractor I know thay go bad daily so it could be barrings. But drit and dust rase heck on A/C Clutches . " turn on and then off the A/C " test would help out but they do cycle by them self too hence 3-5 min thing makes me think clutch /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Sorry it has taken me so long to get back on. My belts have not squeaked anymore. After a sit down with the boss, I found out that instead of shifting to a faster gear, she was a little over-reved. So we all learn a little. Thanks in response to all your help.
