Hello this is my first post,
We have a TN75DA and it's in need of a clutch, I've done some searching on here and it seems by design they aren't the best design ever. Anyways it's had a clutch replaced before at the local NH dealer. Now it's closed down and in the effort to save money and prevent having to haul it a long ways away we are going to attempt it ourselves. Never done a clutch in a tractor but have a ton gear head experience in cars/trucks. Can someone help me out with a few questions I have before I tear into it:
1. Are there any tractor specific special tools required?
2. Being this is a cab tractor I've read on here that you can raise the cab up in the front to get the bell housing bolts out. Is this the best method if you don't have a lift? Rather not pull the cab all the way if not completely needed.
3. Anyone have any tips or tricks to help the process along?
4. Should I go back with a factory brand or aftermarket like Luk?
A local guy was telling me that when he does one he pulls the engine out as it's easier? Thought that was odd but being this a different animal than I'm used to I didn't want to be too cynical without knowing. I believe the clutch itself is probably ok as I think the TOB has failed or pushed through the fingers as I read it's really common where the TOB rides on them at all times and it makes them weak. Any who, thanks for any help and having me!
"FACTORY BRAND"....ONLY!
Different tractor,..... but ask me how I know.
