TN75DA DIY Clutch Replacement Questions

Hello this is my first post,

We have a TN75DA and it's in need of a clutch, I've done some searching on here and it seems by design they aren't the best design ever. Anyways it's had a clutch replaced before at the local NH dealer. Now it's closed down and in the effort to save money and prevent having to haul it a long ways away we are going to attempt it ourselves. Never done a clutch in a tractor but have a ton gear head experience in cars/trucks. Can someone help me out with a few questions I have before I tear into it:

1. Are there any tractor specific special tools required?
2. Being this is a cab tractor I've read on here that you can raise the cab up in the front to get the bell housing bolts out. Is this the best method if you don't have a lift? Rather not pull the cab all the way if not completely needed.
3. Anyone have any tips or tricks to help the process along?
4. Should I go back with a factory brand or aftermarket like Luk?

A local guy was telling me that when he does one he pulls the engine out as it's easier? Thought that was odd but being this a different animal than I'm used to I didn't want to be too cynical without knowing. I believe the clutch itself is probably ok as I think the TOB has failed or pushed through the fingers as I read it's really common where the TOB rides on them at all times and it makes them weak. Any who, thanks for any help and having me!

"FACTORY BRAND"....ONLY!
Different tractor,..... but ask me how I know.

Thanks for the info. I bought a service manual, just have to wait for it to show up in my email. How far does the cab have to go to to get all the top bell housing bolts?

Well the service manual shows everything but the cab removal process, it does say what to remove from the firewall so I assume that'll be pretty much the same. I removed the front two cab bolts and loosened the rears. Besides unhooking obvious stuff to get the cab to move is there anything else to look for that may not be that obvious?

Well finally got a break in the rain and got it pulled apart. Of course the TOB was killed, about like I figured. Taking it apart was amazingly simple, even though this first time I took it slow and learned a few tricks. I done it outside on gravel in the winter, figured if I could handle that then I would be good in about any other condition. Lifting the cab was a lot easier than I expected also, all in all if anyone needs their clutch swapped don't be afraid to dive into it if you have basic mechanical know how.

I just opened this thread.

My TN95A had the same issue.
TOB went though the clutch fingers. It was a lot easier than I expected. I think it took me about 6 hours.
I do not have a cab to deal with. I did it without a manual. Making sure I got all the stuff that goes across from the engine to the transmission was the only problem.
Putting it back together I pinched a wire between the two halves. That took me another 6 hours and getting a manual to find the wire so the 4 wheel drive would work.

Yeah considering how most people let the dealer do it I was shocked at how easy it was. The hardest thing to figure out was the front loader plates but even that was simple. The manual I bought didn't help me much at all but now I have it for future projects. Having it just for torque specs is good though. Needless to say if(when) the TOB fails again I'll be able to jump right in and get it fixed asap. Btw something I learned after I lifted the cab was the access holes for the top bolt on the plates, now I'd say I could do it in 60% of the time just because I know exactly what to do and in what order.

How often are you all checking the pedal height and how often do you have to adjust to keep the 5.5"?
