Recently purchased a TNT from Fit Rite. I have no complaints about the product. Solid and a pretty easy install. Being new to this i was a bit confused on how to attach hoses until i realized the threads were protected by hex bolts. Yeah, i know pretty simple but it had me stumped for a bit.

Anyway, when i use my box blade I cannot seem to get the back blade to tilt enough . No issues getting the front blade to dig in. Works like a charm. The rear blade just does not make as much contact as when I had the hand adjusted top link.

I have tried placing the top link in all three holes on rear of my Kioti. Seems like if the hydraulic cylinder was a few inches longer I'd be good to go.

The rear blade does contact the earth just not as aggressivly as I'd like to smooth things out.

Again: NO issues with the product. Just wondering .

How does the length of the manual top link compare to your hydraulic top link?

/ TNT question #3
I think I'd talk to Brian about it first off.

But...

As far as a box blade goes, I can't think of a task where the rear blade would need to be more than an inch lower than "blades flat". How much past flat will it go? The only rear attachment that I own that needs any additional length is my brush hog.

Yeah, my manual top link is lots longer. No need to talk with Brian as i have no complaints. i suppose that the degree to which it makes contact is adequate. Again no issues with Fit Rite just making an observation as a newbie to all this.

You could always go with a longer top link. I believe he has different lengths available for longer stroke.

It's possible you just need/want more adjustment than some of us. I can get my box blade to fairly extreme angles using the top link, meaning I never use it at the extreme, I'm always somewhere in the middle.

What is your tractor, and what box blade do you have? Can you post a picture of the top link fully extended and the angle the box blade is at?

Do you use a quick attach like Pats easy attach?

I really like a lot of adjustment on a top link and the ability to get the back of a box scraper angled quite a bit. Brian is very big on customer service and satisfaction, so I would measure you original top and Fit Rite links extended and retracted and PM Brian, we may be missing something.

My thoughts too, ^^^^.
If you can do it easily enough you might consider retrofitting/adding a new set of top link holes to allow more tilt. IIRC, Brian asks the length of your original top length both extended and retracted as a starting point when ordering to alleviate this type problem. Don't know what happened in this case.:confused3:

Brian PM me yesterday. I don't need the rear blade to go deeper just used to it being more aggressive for finish work on the drive. Seemed to work sort of like back bladeing with the FEL but much quicker and no need to look over my shoulder.

Top link is in uppermost hole. I can get it more aggressive with rear blade if I move to lowest hole on tractor. However if I do this when I tilt the box forward to cut with front blade the sides of the box seem to dig into the earth creating two furrows as I blade the drive. I'm new to this so maybe that is a normal occurance ??

I think i just need to find the "sweet spot".

Thnks for the help, everyone. And thank you, Brian for contacting me. Once again great service great product.

I think you will find the sweet spot is much closer to level, tilting the box enough for the sides to make furrows is overkill.

I have PMed drjay9050. My fear is that I might have unknowingly shipped an 8" stroke unit when he should have a 10" stroke unit. We will get this resolved soon. ;)

Back in the day, my crew tore out a two month old concrete driveway just a few doors down from our actual job. I was just a bit upset  ...Until I realized that I had reversed a couple of numbers on the address I gave them.

Stuff happens.

That would make me even more upset than if the crew had made the mistake. I HATE it when I mess up. :mur:

It ended up not being THAT bad and I can laugh about it now. We were going to dust on color and stamp the driveway they were supposed to tear out, so I offered to stamp the other driveway (with their choice of colors of course.) I ended up getting six more jobs in the tract over the next year. :D

So I have been in touch with Brian at Fit Rite. He did NOT make an error. Just that my original toplink had a bit more travel so things were different.

All is well. This operator needs some serious seat time !!

It does take some time to get good at using a box scraper, I am still working in that direction myself and I've been doing it for years.

Hey,
I just got a new Bush Hog ROBB this summer and thought I was really doing great - cutting a fat hog. Then I stood back and took a look - something wasn't looking right. I took shots with my transit and stadia rod and my eyes were right - I had already cut the pad 2.5 inches low. My ego took a beating on that. Sooo - I too am learning.

I'm happy when I learn something new. Depending on how you may look at it, but I hope that it is each and everyday. ;)

I believe on a Kioti DK-40 the Top Link should be in the Bottom hole for heavy Dirt Work.:2cents:
