Okay, I was wrong

Should have never trusted the weatherman. One to three inches my hitch pin! Got a foot so far, and the heavy stuff isn't supposed to arrive till tonight. I was going to plow the road, but after driving thru that foot of perfect snow I put the tractor away and went back with the sled and my dogs! Ah, what a wonderful life!

Re: Okay, I was wrong

2+ feet on my driveway this morning and still falling fast. Had to take the tractor across the lawn for about 100' before I could actually get it to the driveway, which took longer than clearing the driveway. Since the last thaw we've had a nice layer of ice covering everything. Trying to go through that much snow with ice under it made me seriously wish for chains, for 15 minutes or so. Turf tires made it eventually!

Weather man says 1-3 feet today????!!!! Wish I knew if he meant total, or just today since we got a good 12-16" of this before midnight. (So much for planting season Bird). As of today this is the 3rd or 4th largest single snowfall in Chittenden County has ever recorded. The TV people just said "3rd biggest ever", but I think they forgot our planet's had a few ice ages!

On the plus side, my little 2710 and 62" blower had no trouble tossing this pretty powder where ever I wanted. Second storm due late tomorrow or Thursday. Vermont is mighty white right now, snow boarder heaven!! Everyone else enjoying this too?

Re: Okay, I was wrong

Must be fun, Todd./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif It's definitely planting season here, but still too wet to mow the yard and till the garden, so I've been out building a crushed rock driveway for my brother-in-law./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Re: Okay, I was wrong

Thomas,

The forecast originally called for 1"-3" here. Come on now fair is fair. Let's blame those states that didn't take their share./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Been snowin' here for almost 36 hrs now. Since 7:00 AM yesterday. They say it's not going to stop untill tomorrow. The wind is blowin so hard it looks like its comin' down sideways. There was flooding along the shore today during high tide. Man, I'm supposed to be in Albany NY Thurs. AM./w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif The snow at the end of my driveway is as high as the mailbox again. Oh well it gives me some more time to plan out the garden./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif Days like this could make one wish for a 100+HP tractor./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

DFB,
Couple more of good snow storms l'll need a dozer to push back my banks.

Home your back from your trip before this other nasty storm arrives Friday.

Kinda glad I didn't have plan for bike week,so would have hated to miss this storm...yeah right.

Re: Okay, I was wrong

Guess that 1-3' was the total, not just for tuesday. Thank G-d. Much as I love this, in town all the roads are so narrow (with the banks being high) that traffic backs up even now, 2 days out. Our local weather guy says this next "storm" is only going to give us a dusting or so. If 3" = 2', what does a dusting = ?

Drive safe everyone.

Todd

PS) Hail Kubota, JRW, and my neighbor with the plow! Our neighbors 300'x10'x2'deep driveway was cleared in less than an hour. I did the middle pass with the blower, he made it wider. Not a bad team.

Re: Okay, I was wrong

Todd,
I guess we have the same problem w/the snow banks..the intersection are the most dangerous, can't see around the corners and pray a auto won't turn towards one. /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif
The city has wing back the bank as much as they could, and the mail & paper boxes have taking a beating from the plows. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

I thought a dusting was no more than enough to cover the ground, but than again we have been well dusted this year. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

Snowing hard right now and calling for 10 to 12 inches...heck a piece of cake compare to the last two storms which equal 43 inches plus. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

Warmer days are coming. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif
