Snell,
I was hopeing someone else could have told me when warmer days are coming.
June 1st I'm going to guess as of now. /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif
By the looks outside this morning we got a good dusting of snow 8",and the wind starting to blow..ain't going to think about plowing up the garden, more like plowing the snow.

Hang in there.

Re: Okay, I was wrong

Hey Thomas,
Our dusting was only 4-5". Our neighbor plowed, and I went out this morning for an hour and widened the road a few feet. Pushed some banks back and down too.

We're in trouble when this melts, unless we get a very gradual thaw (not likely). I'm betting on floods and road wash outs throughout the state.

The Fifth Season. Coming to a town near you. Look for it in the north east next month.

Re: Okay, I was wrong

Todd,
I guess we had the same plans yesterday..push them back..way back. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
Heck I push my banks back enough a plane could land.
Spent little over 6 hours pushing banks,2 hours for me 4 hours for my neighbor.
What a F$@!ing mess I got into my neighbor pushing back his banks plus digging out the snow in front of his house. /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif/w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif/w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif
I ask him and her is there anything I should know about in the driveway, lawn, near the house and they said it was all clear..WRONG!
Well I found his bird bath,2 lawn chairs,rake,2 tonka toys, bag of rubbish and some where in the snow bank there was a small atv for there grandson which I didn't find..whew.
To top it off when he remove the xams light from the house and tree {which he never finish the tree} he place the light in the box near the house..oh yeah found them to. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif
Had those lights & cords everywhere even wrap on the tractor front axle tire chains etc.. /w3tcompact/icons/mad.gif
If they thought spring time clean up wasn't going to be to bad this year well there wrong!!
No Charge for my work only because they learn a lesson..for they move from AZ and never seen so much snow or never delt w/so much snow, also give them a little advice.."just make sure you keep the area clean and free where you want plow, and hire a good plow man"

Oh geeze lets not even think of flooding ...okay,for that would be a mess an half. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

Todd, are you saying there another big storm brewing for April..please don't think like that..buddy,old pal, friend.

Well plan on snapping some pictures today than sending to my cousin down in the Fla,Keys and showing him what he missing. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Have a pleasant day and rest up for the next storm.

Re: Okay, I was wrong

Wow, what an avalanche of snow we have here in central N.Y. I haven't been able to do any virtual tractoring here on TBN because I have been doing so much real tractoring in the snow /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif. For the last week I have been getting up half an hour early to do a quick job on the front of the driveway just to get the cars out, then after I get home from work and the baby is in bed I go out for 2 hours or so to do a complete job on the driveway and the paths to the pastures. Several times I have had to use the FEL to move back the berms, but other than that it has all been rear blade work. A typical winter for us is 115 inches of snmow, the record is 191. So far we have 185 or so, and it is snowing still right now! If every winter was like this I might go to a bigger tractor than my 1700, or perhaps keep the tractor but get a snowblower, but I think this winter is unusual. Most of the time the rear blede is all I need, with the FEL now and again for moving berms. Hopefully I can find more time to spend here, I feel a little out of touch. Anybody hear from MarkC at all???

Re: Okay, I was wrong

Yeah, you've been out of touch, PaulB. Welcome back. And a lot of us have wondered what's happened to Mark. In your part of the country you're using the tractor a lot for snow and in my area, we're not using the tractors at all because of rain./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif Maybe it'll get back to normal some day.

Re: Okay, I was wrong

Paul,
By the sounds your days are full before dawn and well after dust, and sounds like you could use a break.

According to the weather experts the last three winters have been mild, and the jet stream has mostly turn back to normal...yikes could that mean somemore old fashion winters coming our way. /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif/w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif
Lets hope for some warmer weather so the snow banks can settle.

Take care out there.

Jeepers Bird, last summer you couldn't buy a drop of rain, and now too much. Is God mad at Texas or something?

He's bound to be. We had a 3 year drought, lots of ranchers having to sell off their cattle, grasshopper plague, some of the lakes that supply water to the towns 15 feet low around here, etc. The little creek below my house is very shallow most of the time (about 4' or so), but is very good crappie fishing in the spring when it's at normal level. Last year it was dry, so no crappie fishing, and now it's out of its banks and the road's closed and under water for a couple of hundred yards. And now we're getting the rain that we'd give anything for in July and August. And the farmers can't even get in the fields to plow, fertilize, and plant.
