To build a barn or get a CUT

It is a dilemma, however I vote for getting the tractor first.

The reasons are (some already stated); your tractor and implements (whatever you do get) will be purchased for the tasks you need to perform around your property. Building and levelling [yes, you will be levelling despite how flat you think the area is] the shed (barn) will be part of the factors purchasing your tractor 'package'.

Knowing the dimensions of your tractor and your implements will better allow you to plan the shed.

And your tractor/implements can survive one Winter/Spring outside. Just put the implements on pallets and tarp them.

I'm with Wag. Get the tractor first. Then wait another year and build the shop twice as big, because you will need it.

Buy the tractor, put your new tractor in the garage and put your car in the driveway!

I bought the tractor first, then used it to help me build the storage building I keep it in... but I did so over the summer so winter wasn't an issue. It's my first tractor and I was concerned that it may not get used enough to make the purchase worth it, but I must admit, I'm amazed at the things it makes so much easier and how much I use it. Plus, I seem to actually look forward to, and even plan more projects just so I can "play" with the tractor. My wife loves it because of all the "honey do" projects and landscaping work that I have completed since buying it (that she never though I'd ever do).

I don't understand why any one would leave a $25k-50k+ machine out in the weather. Build the barn and protect your next investment.

Thanks guys for all of your input. I did have a sales rep from Morton stop by this morning. Just waiting to see what the damage will be. I did chat with a co-worker and he said that pole barn are pretty easy to put up. After I get the quote I'll go get a couple lumber yard quotes. So see what the difference would be.
