Question from a "diesel-challenged" user..........what kind of "gas mileage" does a diesel get(
Typically a diesel engine uses 20-25% less fuel than a gas engine and a bunch more torque. I bet your FIL would really be wishing for a diesel engine if he had a gas engine in that motorhome, I think he would be looking at 2-3 mpg at best with a gas engine.

Thanks for that info...so now I know and won't wonder why my father-in-law won't have anything but diesel(he's got a 72" Kubota ZTR w/diesel too). I thought it was just because he used to be an over-the-road 18-wheeler driver but diesel engine longevity, durability(and now I know about better torque and fuel consumption) are very good reasons to go diesel.

Sorry for the sidebar and for hijacking the thread guys...just figured it was a good opportunity to learn something:0)

You may want to watch TractorHouse.com in addition to CL. They have a wide range of machines go through there and you can filter down your search to a zip code area. You have to keep a close eye on CL. Some good deals come and go very quickly if you're not watching. I recently bought a 2010 JD Z920A (54", 26 hp Kawasaki) with 146 hrs on it for less than $5500. The guy was getting all kinds of calls on it when I showed up. It was clean and strong so I grabbed it. Cut my time on my 1.5 acres down by a third over the last zero turn I was using. I can't cut quite as close as I could on the stander but that's what I've got 2 strong boys for that know how to weed eat. (OK, one does now and the other one will know in a couple of years!!)

Is that all lawn or is it field grass/lawn? If I had 10 acres to cut I'd be looking at a diesel instead of a gasser too. Or THIS!!! -----> XCaliber Twin | Dixie Chopper

Good Luck!

That's good advice on the Tractor House thing for sure.

That Dixie Chopper is one bad motor scooter. For sure. Thing is, my plans on a 10 acre place have been crushed. The neighbor that I was going to pickup the other five acres from changed his mind and is not going to sell. That leaves me with my regular old five acre place that is mixed grasses/field.

I have the Orange Mower disease this week and seem to need a Kubota ZTR to relieve the fever!
