To Cut or Not To Cut (PTO Shaft)

/ To Cut or Not To Cut (PTO Shaft) #11
The only warning I will have is I cut the shaft for my tiller and THEN got the quick hitch...... oops. Shaft now too short. If you are planning a quick hitch/pat's system do that before you cut as it will change the length of shaft you need.

Other than that cut it how you want it and be done with it.

Measure 5 times, cut twice.... meaning first time you cut go a bit longer than you think you need..... test it out and cut a bit more off if you need to. Better that than being a bit too short.

I would take the average distance of other known snow blowers into account and place the distance within that margins. You will most likely find doing this that the blower will work an many tractors without having to cut or lengthen the shaft and the angles will fall right into specs, so you won稚 have to worry about burning up u joints.

My blower will work on 5 different size tractors without having to change the shaft.
