Jinma 354
I am ready to buy a Jinma 35hp but have heard stories both from owners and dealers that the "bugs" aren't worked out of them yet. And that the whole system is "not that good". Anyone have any experience with them? Seems like a good idea to me....but I certainly could live without it.

(edit) Oops, I am talking about the shuttle shift....not the tractor

Well I have a 284 with the standard transmission and creeper gears and I was facing the same dilemma when I bought my tractor. I am so happy I did not get the shuttle shift !!!!

First off I can get the work done fine with out the shuttle shift and second I do not know how I would get along without the creeper gears. I use them everyday that I run the tractor.

I have th shuttle shift and really like it on my tractor. I have a FEL and it makes using it much better. I don't use a tiller so the creeper isn't a big deal for me.

The Jinma tractors do not offer the shuttle shift for the 354 yet,the shuttle shift is good for frontend loader work,or alot of boxblade work, depending on what you are going to do with the tractor, the shuttle shift if you need it works great ,the few bugs that were in it are pretty well fixed

It has already been mentioned that the option isn't available on the 354, so I guess you really don't have a choice if you stick with a Jinma. I have a Farmpro 2425 (Jinma 254) with standard trans and creeper. I've put about 70 hours on the tractor in the past 2 months. About 60 hours of that has been loader work. I should be done with the majority of the dirt moving project in another 2 or 3 weeks, so the lack of shuttle shift won't be too much of an inconvenience. If I did this much loader work on a continual basis, I would either trade for a shuttle shift or pay the extra $ for a tractor with a hydrostatic transmission. My biggest gripe with the standard transmission is the reverse speed. Sometimes I shift into high range when backing up, but my property has a lot of slope so this isn't always a smart thing to do. I also run into those situations where space becomes limited and high range is too fast and low range is too slow. I have a tiller that I use very infrequently. The creeper gearbox is nice for that application, but I could make multiple passes and live without it.

As others stated, whether or not you are happy with the standard trans all depends on the intended use of the tractor. For lots of loader work I think you should look at other transmission options (and possibly other makes of tractor), but for occasional loader use the standard trans is fine.

On my Kama TS354 I don't have shuttle shift but the reverse is directly below the 2nd gear and shifting from 2nd to reverse is a snap.... With shuttle shift you still have to depress the clutch. There are times when the creeper is very useful.....

canjuntoo, how fast does your Kama run in reverse relative to the forward gears? This is what I was referring to with my Farmpro. I have no issue with the time required to physically shift from a forward gear into reverse. Reverse speed seems to be much slower than 1st gear, so if need to back up 30 or 40 feet it takes a long time. Not really an issue for mowing, bushhogging, auger work, etc, but a big inconvenience when the primary task is using the loader.
