My older brother lived out west for most of his adult life. He and his wife just bought a house in Western Maine, and are moving back from Phoenix right now. Aside from the heat, it's too crazy out there.

Well good for him, you should mention two things to him when he brings his car here, welcome back and Rustproof...............

My wife wanted to plant a couple winter berry shrubs at the end of one of her flower gardens. She asked me if I would dig out some of the hard pan and replace it with composted manure mixed with a little good soil.

Finally got the winter wheat planted, plowed then disc before spreading the fertilizer and seed. Was a bit dry but had to get it finished .

Did some mowing today and pulled a few Yaupon Holly bushes.

Seems the noise from mowing was like ringing the dinner bell for one.of our local raptors.

It is interesting how they learn to come to a field being mowed and they don't seem to fear the mowing equipment at all.

My father's friend was mowing the field a few years ago and there was a fox following him around catching mice.
When I was a kid, we were coming out of the field in my Uncle's IH Scout sitting on a couple of fresh hay bales, and he was telling about all of the things he's seen get scooped up by the baler. When he mentioned snakes, every one of us jumped up off the bale we were sitting on.
