Toasted tomato and cheese sandwiches with mayo, salt and pepper. White bread and American cheese of course.
I think I ate hundreds of them growing up!
When was growing heirlooms for market some years back it was always tomatoes for breakfast usually some nice sweet one like maybe a Cherokee Purple, yellow Ox Heart or German Red Strawberry piled on top of toasted bagels and cream cheese. Now that's good!
One of the Chefs I supplied made an awesome tomato /watermelon salad for the restaurant
Lately its been all tomato salad here...diced tomatoes, mixed colors, with olive oil, vadalia onion, cubanelle pepper and splash of apple cider vinegar.
I had a great crop of tomatoes at home this year and I'm starting to get tired of eating tomatoes :confused2:
Now those 3 greenhouses at work are producing like crazy. We do a late planting towards the end of June an right now pick on average about 200lbs a week. Most are all 3/4lb minimum too. The bumper crop harvest a few weeks ago was over 400lbs for that one weekend.
But once the corn is gone nobody wants no dang tomatoes either!
