years ago auto shop teacher {retired few years after I was in class} talked about flushing engine with kerosene; if you run kerosene through it you would need to flush change the oil and filter at least once after cause kerosene will do in the additives in oil.would not want to put much load on engine

Is there anyway you can pressurize the radiator with air and listen for the leak?
Maybe a waste of time cause I guess the tractors goin back to the seller anyway.

The head gasket does not appear to be "low enough" for a full gallon of radiator fluid to leak out. I put in a full gallon, a full gallon leaked out. No liquid leaked outside the engine, only through the drain plug hole. There was a time lag of about a minute before the fluid started rushing out the drain hole. I filled it up and waited a good minute before it started to gush.

Gonna have a little session with the seller end of the week. He's on vacation with the family this week. Will see if he's honorable and realistic or not. The tractor allegedly sat for 10 years with no usage.

Luckily, I know a master engine mechanic and will lay the machine on him tomorrow and see what he says.

Still, it's a real nice tractor and I'd rather not give up without a bit of a fight with the problem. If cost prohibitive, well, that's another story. I wanted this 1502, it's a real nice rig.
