XR 3037 HST Cab
While up in the field today with the new machine, every time I hit a bump or rocked it good these really small metal balls fall out to the roof of the cab. tiny, like 1/32 inch silver steel balls. Almost like welding slag but this is way too much of it. When I would reverse and go forward quickly this stuff fell down. It is so fine I can see it falling but I hear it falling on the dash and side of the cab. What can it be? Should I be really worried, enough to not use till I can get it back to the dealer 60 miles away?

I haven't had that problem with mine yet but only have 16.5 hrs on it. I guess I'd look under the blue roof to see what else it rolling around up there. It's easy to do. First, unplug the outside front cab lights. Then remove the 2 cab nuts and washers behind the lights (they have a black cap covering the nuts) I think they are 13 or 14mm. Then there are 2 more nuts directly above each side door (also covered with a cap). Once you have those 4 nuts off you have to stand on the loader arms (one foot on each) and lift the blue roof up (the bottom black half stays where it is). The blue top roof is hinged in the back. I propped mine up with a board when I did my work up there.

Interesting. On your LS? Any pictures? In the meantime, make sure it doesn't get into your electronics, dashboard.

This is waht has fallen out this morning. I vacuumed it out last night. The dirt is mine. Is this something that is going to make my hair fall out or grow a third eye in a few years?

Too old for that and the grandkids might enjoy making fun of the hand growing out of neck!

Holy cow! I assume this would attract to a magnet and not harm you, but I would still be worried about it getting into electronics or the pivot points of anything that moves. It likely will rust making it worse. Have you sent a copy of this to your dealer or LS customer service?

Looks to me like it could be some blasting media. Possibly some prep before paint, could of gotten into the tubing, and gradually making its way out??? Looks like what we used to call "black diamond" silicon carbide media. Just a guess.
