I've had this very large tire sitting in one of my pastures and wanted to get rid of it. It's easy to roll around but I wanted to see if the tractor could lift it so I can put it into a pick-up bed (I've had lots of people interested in the tire). The tire is 6' in diameter and 3' wide. Don't know how much it weighs but the loader wouldn't budge it. I didn't try putting the loader on top of the tire to see if I could lift it that way because even if it could lift it I probably would run out of lift to get the tire into a pick-up. And I didn't want to turn it sideways because I didn't want it falling over. I was more curious than anything. I wonder how heavy it is? (And by the way...for those of you from the ROPS police...save your breath.)

It ain't gonna happen:) I would guess 800 - 1000lbs but that's just a guess.

You could do a controled roll up in the back of a truck but a trailer would be best.

I'm gonna guess that tire weighs in over 2000lbs. And with it attached as it is in the pic, it'll be like lifting 5000lbs.

No way no how is your tractor going to lift that thing.

You think it's that much? I was guessing around 800 or 900 lbs. But it's just a wild guess.

Yup, but mines a guess too. The difference might be that I found a weight of 336lbs for a 36 inch tire that was 14 inches across on a heavy equipment tire. I figured based on that, but I went with the low end of my possible weights I came up with.

Lifting weight is a guess also, and although not scientific, I figure it will weigh more then double of my guessed weight. The reason is because you seem to lose 30% of the lifting capacity once your 20 inches forward of the pivot pin and that tire is way more then 20 inches forward.

Then again, I could be way off because I've got 35 inch tires on my pickup and I can pick them up without to much strain. ;)

When you ain't got the raw muscle, you can always fall back on leverage :)

That tire didn't stand up all by itself. I'm betting someone lifted it while the main weight was still on the ground. And there is the answer. You never try to lift the whole thing. Always make sure most of the weight is supported by something else; the ground, the truck, the trailer, etc.

FWIW The pyramids were built with ramps, platforms and levers. You've got more technology than they had :)

I bet a sawzall will do just fine cutting that up.

The tractor could pick it up if it was turned sideways so it wasn't all out the front of the bucket. My guess would be under 1,000 lbs but the way your trying might be about 3500 lbs.

If you do find a way to left the tire be vary carefull of the potential crush hazard presented to the operator if the tire decides to roll backwards due to lifting the FEL to high or while climbing a slight hill

Turn around.

Chain it to the back of the tractor and drag it along. As for loading it, my suggestion would be to flip it end over end onto a flatbed trailer.

Interested in it for what purpose? Now theres an interesting question for inventive minds. Things you can do with a huge old tyre.

Dang, WHATEVER you do with it BE carefull.

While it looks harmless, that thing can get motion to it and then all sorts of bad things can happen!

Could you imagine the amount of black smoke you would have using that thing to start a brush pile fire:eek:

Wow, that is a big tire. Looks to be off a coal truck. I know some young boys that would beg to get inside that thing and be rolled down a hill! Yee haa!

Not too much tire - just too li'tul twactor.
(-:

Maybe empty out the rain water, then push it over and drag it to a trailer (perhaps with a heavier tractor). Lift an edge, block it up, repeat as needed.
Get a couple of 10 or 12 ft beams under it to form a bridge, back the trailer under it... you can figure the rest.

That's gonna be a big ol' sandbox for some lucky kid. ..... and the neighborhood cats!

I guess this tire weight at 2900 lb. From the pictures. Even with a counter weight I wouldn't risk structural failure to my FEL arms or mounts
