We just got another dog too. After coming home from Lowe's to this yesterday, he might be for sale
Just an idea if it hasn't crossed your mind.
Buy a crate if you already don't have one.
"Crate training" is mandatory in our house, even for older dogs who may not be used to a crate (which is a whole other topic).
For a pup, it's a wonderful tool to help to house train if the dog resides in the house with the family. Dogs do not like to urinate or defecate in their "den", however, a pup being a pup will still need to be taken out (even perhaps EARLY in the morning) on a regular basis to go outside. It also helps to cut down on "unwanted behavior" if the family isn't home and the pup is still in the house.
Keep in mind, you need to associate the crate with a positive experience and not use it for punishment.
You should go see the movie "Marley and Me"!
I'm afraid it won't live up to the book
While in Asheville last weekend, picked up the book "Amazing Gracie: A dogs tale", a great read as well (never even heard of Three Dog bakery until in Ashville, and the book is about a blind great dane who helped start the business).
