I'm just wondering, why doesn't Tractor Supply Co. or some similar place have tractor tool boxes? Isn't this the place where you to to buy tractor accessories? I've found them on Ebay, but by the time you pay shipping you've spent twice as much as the tool box cost. Any ideas where I can get a small tractor box for a reasonable price fairly locally? I've checked just about every where I can think of.

Maybe you're focused on "tractor" toolbox too much. Any toolbox of a size to fit your tractor would work. Just determine what tools you'd want to carry. I carry very few tools myself...but I'm normally within a couple hundred yards of my home.
As for chains and a few tools, the attached picture shows an outstanding addition to a quick hitch, if you have one.

No, actually I've been looking for anything that will work okay, but all I can find is plastic crap. Now the Army surplus ammo boxes is something I haven't thought of and they may be just what I'm looking for. Just want to be able to keep a couple of cresant wrenches, channel lock pliers, a hammer, and a few bolts, nuts, pins, etc. in the tool box. Thanks!

Actually, the plastic toolboxes are pretty nice They don't rust and they're pretty light weight. Also cheaper to replace.

Since I bought my 4400 Deere (with the small toolbox built into the left fender...big enough for the 10" crescent wrench and pliers, but not for a mallet or hammer), I gave up on the idea of mounting a toolbox.

I used the ammo can on the right side floor board. I think finding a good place for the toolbox is harder than finding a good box.

Yeah...true...

Neatest one I saw (on TBN) was a box mounted to a crossbar attached to the tubes of a 790's ROPS (where it narrows down to the frame mounts). Decent sized box too!

I'm loving this forum more everyday! I had no idea Tractor Supply had these tool boxes, I guess because I've never seen one in their stores. But I never thought about they could order it for me, or I could get it online. Thanks!
As for the plastic tool boxes, when I put a tool box on my tractor, I intend for it to stay there and not have to be replaced because it cracked, or split, or melted, or got brittle and broke. I've had several of them over the years. That's one thing wrong with America today in my opinion--they're trying to replace everything with plastic! Thanks again for all the suggestions and comments!

Quite a few times I find myself looking through Tractor Supply's website for stuff I need. I then make a list and take it to the store when I go. If I can't find what I'm looking for once in the store, I have them order it for me. Most of the time it will be in the next shipment which is usually delivered within a week. I would assume you might be able to get the items sooner depending on how much business the Tractor Supply you order from does.

I've seen the spee-co steel tool boxes at our local farm supply store. They come in green, red, and blue. Nice sturdy boxes.....but I wish for a MOUNT to attach one to my ROPS (or any other location on a 3320).

I built a mount for my old JD790...but lack the time (or ambition?) to make one for my current tractor. I really liked my old ROPS mounted box.

Many of today's newer tractors have had metal hoods and fenders replaced by plastic:). For a tool box I use a heavy fabric bag that fits between the seat and the gas tank. It holds a 10 - 12' chain, couple of screwdrivers, pliers, adjustable wrench, etc. I have looked for a good place to mount a real box and have yet to find a suitable location.
