I have a Proto chest and the front is covered ip when the lid is down.

Thanks, the Proto boxes are nice and not out of my budget.

Im still not sure what tools will be stored in the box? I have on my truck a side bed tool box, Its not the kind that is tall and has the dooras opening on the side, But open from the top, I have had the cross bed type boxes first the kind with lids on each side with a trey slide one way or the other, this kind gets old when everything falls to the bottom having to dig half the tools out in order to find the tool I'm looking for, I then tried the full open lid and it worked out alright for a while but then I found myself crawling up into the back of my truck to go dig in the tool box, Now I have as I stated the side box type, much easier to reach into, not only easier to reach but I have set it slighlty inwards so that I installed a camper shell with the side windows opening I can still reach into the toolbox through the window, having the ability to keep a few of my needed to on hand in my truck keeps me from having to take my tool trailer all the time, Look closely to the picture and you might can see the box just inside the side window,

Those school bus conversions were popular (and cheap) back in the 70's and 80's. A buddy of mine built the slickest one I've seen. He cut the back off the bus and re-attached it with hinges. He could drive his race car in then close the back of the bus.

Once again don't know your specific needs but this is one of mine 32 in. X 19 in. Storage Chest-2032-OS at The Home Depot

Its a mini gang box. Happy with it so far. One thing I'd like to mention if anyone buys one from HD the Rigid (whatever size) they make 3 size gang boxes or the Klein . Make sure you look inside box and all your hardware is there. These boxes for some reason are notorious for comeing from factory missing u-bolts needed to use with # 5 master locks to lock. Don't trust boxes that come "banded" from factory open and look inside on site.

We used to have huge gang boxes like that. Some were 8 ft long, 4 feet wide. Needed a big lift truck or crane to move them.
