Tool box

Since the forum is a little bit slow, I'd like to show you my tool box and added step. The ones that are familiar with the Jinma 284 without FEL know that they are a little awkward getting on and off. This is an improvement. I carry gloves, hitch pins, screw driver, and pliers - to keep the tractor going. It's an old ammo box, that I shortened in height about 3 inches. One afternoon, and $6.00! See attachment. Yugo

nice idea, makes tools easy to get and the step is a good addition with the non-slip surface.
Dumb question on my part. Why is the tire on backwards? The way you have it is great for reverve but not so good traction forward. Just curious.

Harry - you're good. I saw that in the picture and wondered if anyone would pick up on it. Can I give you a smart-alec answer first? It's 4 wheel drive - 2 forward and 2 backward - haha. Really, I mow 2-3 acres on a steep hillside 20-25% grade, with a full floating finish mower (no weight to the tractor). We have wheel weights, but no solution in the tires, as heavy tires aren't so good on lawns. I try to not use 4 wheel drive, and I do get some tire slippage. With the tires on backwards, it's less aggressive at tearing up grass. yugo

LOL, Good answer. I have heard of farmers that would put the thread backwards deliberately for when dumping stuff in fields during poor traction conditions. They would drive forward into the field and when the tires started to spin going forward it was time to back up. "Hopefully" the tires mounted rearward allowed then to do so.

Spiker- Thanks for the compliment, but I'm very envious of your shop, the equipment we could see in the background and the excellent workmanship in the dump trailer you made. Wish we were neighbors. Yugo

thanks yes we've made some kewl stuff. it is the boss's shop not MINE (dang it anyways! lol) I was out there last night used the shop which had power to charge my cell and helped a bit on the jobs going on in there. building some more ovens and powder coating. my NEW job keeps me too busy for much (10 hr shifts for last 3 weeks with out day off, except x-mas day which I was susposed to work but it was too cold.) anyhow the dump trailer was made the size it was as every thing worked out SHEET & STOCK lenghts. 2 hunks of 3x3" sq tube x 3/16"wall and 2pcs 4x10' x 12 ga sheets and 2 pcs of 2x2x24' sq tube x 3/16" wall. it was free material (well not actually) I worked 2 weeks making the trailer and doing regular job stuff as needed for free) probably 30 hrs of work on trailer rest on work jobs. grand total for wage scale was something like 500 or so invested...

the axels free from friend with new ties too. (shop friend we work for him he pays low price for the work/effort.) we get free axels ect when we need em. he has mobil home setting/moving buis.

I did buy paint and lights (never used lights still got em) slow moving sign and actuator & hoses were shop used take offs and new made up hoses from shop materails..

it was a FUN project but HARD. as I worked by myself on 100% of it except for about 3 small parts to help align stuff.
