I have 30k in Snap-on & Craftsman. They have everything you need & will last longer than your tractor.

I wouldn't worry about it.

My first implement I bought when I had my first tractor ( yanmar 1700 ) was a box blade I found by the side of the road for 100$.

I took it home.. hooke dit up and started playing with it, boxing out some tire tracks in the sand. I had no sway/limit chains, and in 5 minutes I got the box hung up in my rear wheel, and bent my adjustable link arm.. luckilly we were able to torch it back straight with no other problems /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I put chains on about 15 minutes later.. DUH!

I think i'd rather have the 30K in the tractor.. and then only need a few hundred in tools, due to the investment I made in the tractor.. etc.

Well - another good place is Homier tools, or Cummins tools. I bought a 3/4" drive (yes, I needed 3/4") for less than $60. Most of the Larger sockets (except impacts) are the "cheapie" stuff. They perform, and last just as long as the over-priced stuff from the name brands. I have about 6 of everything - seems I am always using two wrenches of the same size and have acumulated extras over the years. There's also the "two for the shop, two for the truck, one for the tractor, etc...." thing

Use the catalog and the internet to order trusted tools. I would not buy any tool that I was torqueing or hammering (including a hammer) from places like Harbor Freight, Northern tool etc. You can get Matco, Snap on, Craftsman, Cornell on line. I have some snap on and matco stuff but the majority is craftsman. Its all a matter of choice. I can get a replacemnet from sears very easy, I have to hunt down a truck for the others, very unusual but a couple of times.

64 more acres. Hence the large tractor.

My Dad made a good living with snap on tools. he had over 40,000 in his. He sold alot of them to the company he worked for when he retiredbut he still had a nice collection of smaller stuff he thought he would still use. HE thought they would last a liftime but most of them got stolen. I would love to have the big stuff he sold /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Another place to check for tools is flea markets. Sometimes you can find some good tools that are used but still have a lot of life in them. Prices are usually very low. Some have warranty because of the brand name.
