I love TBN and reading all of this stuff.
There are TWO truths that have to be brought out here:
#1 - There are NEVER enough tools. Keeping them in tool boxes on or off the tractor is besides the point. You can never have enough tools.
#2 - This is a mental condition. This has nothing at all to do with work, it is about having more toys and therefore more fun.
We ought to start a "support group" for guys trying to kick the habit. Meetings would start out:
"Hi, my name is Rockyroad and I am a cross-addicted tractorholic and tooloholic..."
My wife is a substance abuse counselor, and she says that this is part of a bi-polar disorder coupled with manic-depressive problems. She wants to put me on lithium pills, but I tell her I have lithium grease down in the barn in my pneumatic powered grease gun which is run by my 220 volt 80 gallon air compressor which runs my 1-ton pneumatic hoist, impact wrench, sander, die grinder, which are all needed to take care of my JD750, log splitter, lawn mowers (2), orchard sprayer, etc, etc, etc.
A headshrinker friend of hers says that the only hope for my addiction is to eat lots of Yoplait Bannana Yogurt, take up poetry reading classes, flower arranging, and have long walks on the beach at dusk having discussions about "relationships" and "feelings." Then maybe this will pass. She also has to stop being "co-dependent" and stop being an "enabler."
Bottom line: Don't listen to your wife, ignore the headshrinkers, and there are NEVER enough tools.
