So I got the Kubota the other day, and today it got up to about 45 degrees, and there was a foot tall patch of knapweed left over from last season when the 316 quit me. So I fired up that little 3 cylinder diesel, and gave it just a tad more than 1/3 throttle and headed into the knap patch. Man! That Bota diesel just whistled as it got in there and gutted that patch of knapweed. Total buttuh! I was thouroughly and utterly impressed I tell you! I can't even get $350 for the 316, so we decided to re ring it and keep it as a back up mower. I ain't gonna beg someone to take it!

Does the 2007 BX2200 have a cruise control? The guy I bought it from showed it to me, I thought, but I cannot find it at all........

I didn't know that they even still made the BX2200 in 2007.

Anyway, on my 2230, the cruise is the far right side lower lever. Mine doesn't work right now, but I don't know why. There is a small piece that has a bunch of saw teeth on it and one of these teeth is evidently supposed to catch on something. Mine doesn't do squat right now, but I've not tried to see how it really works (or doesn't).

No cruise control on a BX2200, and they went out of production LOOOONG before 2007. I'd guess 2002?

The dealer had said "This" is the cruise control, as he pulled up on something, but I didn't really remember what or where it was. I run it at about 1/3rd throttle in low and with the pedal all the way down, it goes just perfectly in terms of ground speed The manual will be getting here soon enough and it will mention it if it indeed has it.

Kubota offered a cruise control kit for the BX 30 series but it is also backwards compatable to the 00 series (BX2200, BX1800, BX1500 & BX22).
It mounts in the slot that just to the left ( or closest to the seat) of the 3PH lever on the right (when sitting in the seat) .
If you have a lever in that slot you either have cruise control or a 3rd function valve (which was another option).....
Basically that slot can be referred to as an option slot :D

The BX 00 series was the 1st BX's offered and were superseeded by the BX 30 series in 2002.

fyi, I have a BX23 and do alot of finish mowing and I've found that running the engine just a tad under WOT gives me the best performance, i.e. best cut, best power and best fuel economy. One of the worst things one can do to a diesel engine is to lug it.
This causes unnecessary loads on the bearings, increases oil consumption and could cause internal engine failures.

Another is to idle at too low an RPM for extended times.....
At low idle the engine isn't burning all the fuel in the cylinder which can find it's way into the engine oil, diluting it. Course it takes quite a bit to do this but it can catch up to you over time.. And with the price of fuel creeping up why waste it....

Seems Kubota designed their little 3 cylinder diesels to run all day long @ 3K rpm....

I know I posted more than what was asked but what they hey, I got on a roll :D
Good luck
Dave

How can one tell the year on the BX series?

I was reading a thread here somewhere, a tractor was purchased new, but was an old model, (read 2-3 years old) and the dealer wrote the paperwork up using the current year. When questioned, the dealer explained that they go by sell date.

So based upon this - and let me be clear I have NO direct knowledge - only my memory which lately has been the polar opposite of a steel trap...it would be possible to purchase a discontinued model from several years back that set in a warehouse for a few years before being sold as a current year tractor.

If memory serves - had something to do with the way they track warranty.

Use with a grain if salt...:)

Watch it, don't feed the animals and thanks :D

How can one tell the year on the BX series?

Dealers can look up the yr of manufacture via the serial number.
We can estimate the yr via the series.
BX 00 series - introduced in 2000
BX 30 series - introduced in 2003
BX 50 series - introduced in 2005
BX 60 series - introduced in 2007
Kubota dealers would still sell the discontinued series "new & unsold" BX's as new models even as the newer models were on their lots. This was/is not unusual. Most times they would carry a pretty good discount. it wasn't unusual to buy a brand new BX2200 in 2003 etc.
Kubota tracks the tractors via serial numbers and once they are sold, even if the buyer changes his mind and brings it back a day later, they can no longer be sold as "new", course thats the way it's supposed to be.
Many times the last run of a BX series would incorporate "some" of the new features of the new series BX's that was replacing it.
Exp., last run BX2200's w/FEL's came w/the BX2230's joystick assembly that would stay on the tractor as opposed to staying w/the FEL when dismounted.

Don't fear, your memory is good, at least in this respect :D
Warranty starts w/the sell date AFAIK too.
