Tooth Bar - are they useful?

Yes the hitch pin is the exact same size. You can buy hitch pins in any size. Just picture the bolts on the sides that hold the toothbar on. Now instead of bolts you have a cut off hitch pin to the exact same length as the bolt. You just put a pin through it and you are ready to go.

Doc,

I like that idea a bunch. Do you use clips or pins on them? Any trouble losing them?

I don't know...

It only takes me a couple minutes to take my tooth bar off with the bolts...I think I will stick with the bolts. Like the idea of the pins and clips though. I just don't take mine off enough to worry about a few seconds...or minutes.

As far as usefullness...I would not be without mine.

Anyone who actually owns one regret it? Please speak up!

I have a regret about mine, got it two weeks ago and regret not getting it years ago! I would never go without one again.

Mark, if you plan on doing any kinda digging, get the toothbar!! Its worth its weight in gold to me. As a matter of fact, I consider the toothbar the number one attachment. It should come standard on all buckets. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Iv'e pushed a lot of brush with and without a toothbar. Much more effective with. I agree with all on the usefulness. I have mine on a 4in1 bucket and found the teeth are a real help in taking the trash out to the road. See attached.

Isn't the toothbar a little loose with the pins vs bolts? Maybe it doesn't matter? Do you have a pic?

My only regret about getting a toothbar is nicking my shins on it when I walk around the front end of the parked tractor. Need to remember to lay the teeth flat on the ground.

Otherwise I cannot imagine the bucket being much use with out it. Pulling up and moving brush and small trees, pushing logs, digging out fill from the shale pit, edging boulders out of my mowing path, moving old culvert, pulling up rotten stumps, etc. I don't move much soft, mounded material.

I'll repeat someone else's comment: best dollar spent.

Hello, I love my toothbar. Got it based on Henro and Bird's recommendation and it is great for clearing brush. I have about two acres I am clearing of brush and small trees and it is great at popping 3-4" trees out of the ground, after you beat them up a bit. I also use it to clear a swath prior to getting the mower in there. I pull up, lift the bucket, place the teeth down, put the bucket just touching the ground and back up. This pulls all the grape vines, weeds, small trees, etc and allows me to then see what is in there. I used to do this by hand and then scratch the poison ivy rash for the next three weeks - boy does this method work for me.

For moving brush it is great. Without it I don't know how you could pick up a felled tree.

Mine is bolted. I will be removing it for the Winter which starts here in two weeks in Upstate NY - kidding.

Best of Luck, Frank D. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
