Howdy, I have read about drilling the hole to add a tooth bar at the front oof the slot and at the back....Which is better? and why. I think I'm going with the Iowa farms tooth bar and before I drill my bucket I would appricate your input. Thanks :confused2:

am I ever going to lift it up and flip it in the bucket? Or just take it off?

One big advantage of having the hole at the back and keeping it tight on the bucket lip is for back dragging with the teeth. My personal preference is to never flip it up, either having it on or off. Also with the bolts being forward and kind of loose to flip it up means eventually the bucket holes will get elongated.

+1 on backdragging with the teeth. I find myself doing that quite a bit, pulling 6-inch rocks out of my future garden patch. Bought my FEL used, with the holes drilled at the back.

my bucket lip got a slight bend in it, so whenever I remove it I have to use a hammer. The ability to flip it up hasn't been needed. When the snow season hits; i just take it off.

I bolted mine towards the back of the slots to keep it tight. If I ever need to back drag, I'll just take it off. I also welded the nuts onto the inside of the toothbar so all I need to do is use one wrench to take it off. Simple.

It never crossed my mind that the holes were elongated to allow for "flip up" It's more likely that it is to accomodate different bucket designs or degree of edge wear. Drill it in the back of the slot.

One more vote for drilling it in the back. I like thinking that the bar is the most secure this way.

Holes in the rear of the slots for me as well. This thread is much closer to unanimous in that view than the previous one.

I understand the other view but disagree (strongly).
