Tooth Bar question

Hi Quadpaw,

Installed a toothbar on my ck20's loader and have used it for a month now. I've moved 15 yds of topsoil and 8 yd of crushed stone as well as numerous other jobs that the toothbar comes in handy for (small stump removal, rock picking, 'raking' vines, etc) The toothbar is very handy for getting an edge under things that would otherwise be difficult to lift. I've had it off twice (takes 5 min) and bucket has no signs of damage. Just be sure that the type that you order fits your bucket exactly (with no side slop or gap under the teeth where they are supported by the original bucket cutting edge). A very useful implement!

Thanks to all for your input and response. I'm checking prices and whats available on the West Cost. I found a W.R. Long Dealer 100 miles away which maybe my best bet, $399 for the lighter duty and $499 for the heavy duty.

If you have not already, I would give the folks at Markham a call and at least see what theirs would cost.. with shipping. The WR Long stuff is very well made.. but tends to be a little pricey.

+1 on the Markham. Had it installed pre-delivery. 200+ hrs later and alot of use in & around rock, no problems at all.

I got a toothbar on my 45, no problems. I didn't pay that much for mine, I would look elsewhere.

I bought and installed a Gearmore brand tooth bar on my KL130, which requires no drilling, and have done alot of digging including very large bolders with zero damage to either the bucket or the bar.

I know, a couple months ago, Wallace had them on sale for $250 or something. It was under $300. Also, check ebay. There's a company out there that was auctioning off toothbars and most were selling for $100. I remember seeing bars from 48 inches to 67 inches. Some were just odd in size like 53 inches, but they had standard widths too.

BTW, I'd love to see how one mounts without bolts.

I don't know the name of it, but I paid 295 for mine from my dealer. For a bill or two more it better come with a barrel of diesel fuel.

I'm in a similar search for my DK45 with the 451 FEL. I was hoping to find a supplier in Canada, but it looks like I may have to go through the hassle of shipping one in from a US supplier.
I held out for a full grapple rake setup for a couple of years, but its clear I'll never afford one of those nifty gadgets (ie, I haven't won the lottery yet!).
I really hate not being able to pick up logs and brushy stuff in the regular bucket, but my near-term use is popping roots of small (less than 6") trees. Will the tooth bar do that OK, do you think?
