Holesaw is the way I did it. Very quick with a small amount of elbow grease.

As several others have mentioned, a hole saw is one of the easiest ways to do it. Bi-metal bit is best, but it can be done with just about any hole saw (if you don't mind trashing the bit on the cheaper hole saws). A hole saw is much quicker than stepping up through the range of solid bits to get to 3/4". You can get by without oil if you take it slow, but almost any kind of oil will work (I used a little dribble of used motor oil which had just been changed out from my lawnmower)

One tip: it's easier to debur the hole afterwards if you drill partway through from one side, then switch to the other to finish. Any burrs are left in the middle of the hole, rather than hanging off the exit side. They can be knocked off easily with a hand file or one of those little cylindrical grinding wheels you can put in the chuck of your drill.
