Toothbar on the way

/ Toothbar on the way #11
My toothbar from Carver came in thursday. I put it on this morning, and spent all afternoon digging things up. I used a spring loaded center punch, then a 1/4 inch titanium tipped bit. Followed with a 1/2 titanium tipped bit. Finally, used a 3/4 ordinary bit (with 3/8 drill). It worked fine-just used slow speed and some cutting oil. The toothbar adds a whole new dimension to the FEL.

I did receive the toothbar pretty quickly I guess, considering UPS has to get out the GPS to find us. I ordered a tiltmeter at the same time, and that came in about 4 days. As far as Carver goes, it was my first order so I'm no expert on that....the salesman didn't seem too enthusiastic, kinda like he was bored with the job, but then I've never been in that part of the country for long, so I don't know much about how folks there react to things.........

From the responses I think Holesaw is the way to go...Off to Home depot! It just opened here last week....there goes the bank account.. Oh well............

Is a "bimetal hole saw" specifically made for cutting through metal?

David,

Typically bi-metal is for metal, but not always. It should say on the package what the hole saw is for. You can also tell by the teeth, bigger teeth for wood, smaller for metal.
