Toothbar

Mine on my 53" 410 loader came from the dealer and looks exactly like the picture Loogie posted: slips over the lip of the loader and two big bolts on the sides of the loader.

Always thought it was a Markham. Didn't realize it probably came from the ATI outfit.

Easy to put on and to take off. Only put it on when I want to work in the dirt. Off most of the time.

Cost about $285.

Thanks for all the help fellas, Think I might call my dealer and talk to him about one. He should take pretty good care of me. My tractor has 12 hours on it now and for every hour I add I love it that much more.

Those holes in the side of the FEL are very large. You should have the dealer do those, because just the price of a drill bit would be pretty hefty. Also, without a jig of some sort, you could easily find such a big bit "walking" on you.

They can probably come and just remove the bucket. I assume it's just held on at the bottom with a couple clips and then just unhooks off some top loops, like mine. If they want an arm and a leg to come out, you could probably easily get it off into the back end of a pickup.

My toothbar is less than the width of the bucket by about the thickness of one of the big washers they supplied with the bolts. So, I put one of the washers inside between the toothbar side and the bucket.

The dealer cut mine with a torch. I think a drill would have left a nicer clean hole.

I have a Markham and it was a good bit cheaper than the ATI. I could have gotten the Deere for just a little more than the Markham from my dealer, but Deere does not make one smaller than the 61" and I have a 53" bucket. I saw a Deere toothbar at my dealer today, and it looked nice. It had slots so you could just loosen it and flip it back instead of taking it all the way off. I think Markham makes them this way now though. JC

Any of you guys know who makes a good toothbar ? Ronnie

Hi Ronnie: Get a toothbar that can flip up out of the way like this one. I agree with the other posters that you should get a robust one with removable teeth. Many of the cheap toothbars available out there do not have removable teeth and do not use wear resistant steel for the bar. Drilling the mounting holes is easy enough if you do it in steps. My toothbar bolts are 5/8" and I used 1/8, 3/8, 1/2 and 5/8" bits in that order. Make sure that your toothbar is flat before you try to install it. If it has a curve to it make them get you another one. I drilled my holes in the wrong spot and had to fill the holes with weld. I redrilled a pilot hole and burned the new hole with a plasma cutter. After I dressed the hole with a file I couldn't tell the difference.

Drilling the holes is not a big deal, we have a mag drill in our shop and the bits in that thing are bulletproof.
