Just to give an update. I took my top link to the local dealer and with a torch to heat it up, a 4 foot breaker bar and several people, they were able to get it back working. One of the threads is missing a small section, but not causing a problem. They put some white grease on it, and it works better then it ever has.

My suggestion to anyone with the BX2200 or similar top link set up, is to pull the links apart and really grease them. May just be able to avoid the hassel I have had.

Helimark and others--as I stated the top link is not designed to come apart or be threaded beyond set limits. That is probably why you were missing some thread--the threads have been punched to prevent threading out of the barrel and to do so will likely damage the top link or gall the threads in the barrel. Don't believe me--go ahead--see for yourself. J

I agree with TresCrows, and thank him for correcting me. Let the dealer seperate the links if it gets that bad. It looks like mine was bad new, and just got worse.

A better way of saying it is for everyone to grease the links to prevent the end result I had. Of course one can do that without exceeding the limits like TresCrows advised.

I wish I had known that I had a bad top link, and that I also should have greased it to prevent it from getting as bad as it did.
