I had the same problem with toplink length on my TC33D that you mentioned. I bought the longer link from my NH dealer, and had them install it with 2 rear remotes. After trying it out for a week, I found it was too long. I followed Bird's advice and had some cut off. I had my dealer do it. I never asked about warranty, but when I had some minor problems with leaks on th efittings, they fixed it for free.
One word of advice if you go this way: I had them cut off all of the length on the fixed end (now the ring mounts right to the base of the cylinder). This gave me a good working length, but the barrel of the cylinder hits the toplink bracket as it swings. It makes one of my toplink bracket holes difficult/impossible to use. If I were doing it over, I'd have left a bit of a stub on the fixed end, and taken some off of the shaft end, as Bird did.
