Off topic. Actually, the quarter inch is an inexpensive 3 pt system and it works, but it's just OK. Kubota only uses it on their small cuts and subcuts to keep the price low, so it is speculated. The real gripe you may have heard about is the 3 pt system on the more basic L series Kubotas. Numerous complaints about that on "some" basic models of the L and no real "fix" has really been discussed. Kubota employs lots of position control on models further up the food chain.

#1 - 1951-52 8n (Most refined version of first modern utility tractor), #2 - Farmall Cub (slightly better fuel economy on 1 row cultivation than the A), #3 - JD 4020 (turbocharged diesel, 100 plus hp, bulletproof)

considering the technology for smooth draft and position control has been around since at least 1938.. one would think kubota might have a real good handle on it.. or any manufacturer for that matter...

manufacturers are getting better about posting at very min a parts catalog online.

if they would only get off there rear. and put operating manuals, parts manuals up on there websites. along with diagnostic / trouble shooting info. so it is quick and easy to use. along with codes, for various chips / computers that could be easily downloaded and viewed. i think modern tractors would have a better chance.

craiglist at min i see at least an 8n if not more for sale. and same goes for regular trading post papers.

though i was finally disappointed. and had to call some salvage yards, to find the PTO shaft for the allis chalmers CA i have.

Yeh I could not believe how far a thread on old tractors went without mention of one of the most popular {farmalls} machines ever used. :ashamed:

there are plenty of red ones out there. the H and M and well.. the letter series in general are out there and in use plenty..

I missed getting a minty 49H a while back and still kick myself..

I just met an older gentleman that has a collection of farmalls A through H. I may in the near future be the owner of one{H}. IMO they were tough old tractors that would out work{outlast} most any of the new stuff.

i think they don't as they want you to buy / pay or those services.. etc.

I tend to forget about the old cubs, my friend growing up would ride his all over culivating gardens. He still has it to this day and using it.

We had a B with a loader that my dad use to move manure out of the cow barn, don't think he was eating his lunch while doing that.:laughing::laughing:
I actually still have the tractor in the shed waiting to be restored.

There is a picture of me probably 3 years old sitting on one of my uncles lap on a B with a missing tire on a tricycle front end and a trip loader shoveling manure.:thumbsup: This would have been around the late 60's

That is great, I myself have a pic of my dad standing on a New 8n which to me ( altough everything i have is JD Green ) would of been one of the top 3, i would guess the 8n,s the farmall F-12,s and gosh it,s so hard to put your finger on 3, maybe the AC 45,s i know there is alot of room there but i am trying to get the farmers out of the horse and buggie,s to motors, probaly the JD GP,s would be there to, My Grandpa went from workhorse,s to a Model T converson to a 9n,
