Toro zero Turn mower

I recently purchased a used commercial Toro Zero Turn mower. Does anyone out there know how to change the hydraulic oil? The manual I downloaded says bring it to a dealer to change hydraulic oil. This can't be rocket science. Does anyone out there know how to change the hydraulic oil on a Toro machine? I can use some info . . .

The manual for my Z Master G3 says the following:

1- Jack up rear of mower; support with jackstands
2- Remove both the mower belt and pump drive belts to prevent oil from getting on them
3- Place a drain pan under the filter (manual shows 2 possible locations on either side under the seat)
4- Remove filter and wipe mount clean
5- Apply thin coat of hydraulic fluid to the new filter seal
6- Install new filter
7- Re-install belts
8- Lower mower to floor
9- Add oil as necessary to bring fluid level up to full - don't overfill
10- Start engine and run 2 minutes to purge air; stop engine and check for leaks; verify hydraulic fluid reservoir is still full (after fluid cools).


This is in the owners manual not a shop manual. The instructions are very spare with only the filter location(s) illustration. No indication where the hydraulic fluid add port is located. As I have not attempted this yet I can't say where it is either.

BTW - the manual says do this every 250 hours.

The manual I downloaded says how to change the filter but not how to drain the oil or bleed the system.

I have an 2008 453. I don't have to remove the belts, as the oil does not drain on them when I pull the filter. The rest of Possum's answer is the same as I would give you. I have a tank on the top of the machine, next to the engine. It has a screw cap on the top.

I change mine yearly, about 125 hours use.
