I was going to do my 50 hour service. My qestion is about checking the fasteners and hardware. How do I know what the torque values are for the various bolts and nuts? There is a torque chart in the operator instruction booklet but I am not smart enough to understant how to use it. The chart has M6 through M20 down the left hand side and 4T and 7T at the top with the Nm or lb ft values. How do I know where to use these values? I don't see a chart to show me the bolt and nut locations on the tractor. The tractor I have is a Massy 1547.

You will need to buy a torque wrench, where you can get just about anywhere there are tools sold. To know what size bolt you have to tighten comes from experience. You could go and buy a couple of bolts to use and compare the size. Bolts are measured by diameter, how many threads per inch or mm, and length. You do not include the head of the bolt. for any measurement.

Note an important distinction between American and Metric thread designation. American is 'threads per distance' [threads per inch]. Metric is distance per thread [mm per thread].
Bolt strength in American is indicated by a number of embossed lines on the bolthead. Metric uses numbers.
