First of all a mid PTO would be hard to miss. It's smaller spline, under the foot area, facing forward.

And on a Kubota I suppose there would be a control lever for it perhaps on the fender. But do any of the L4xxx-series have mid PTO? I'm surprised the dash has an indicator for it.

What I would do is locate the connectors for the main brain box, then open them and look at those terminals, look for corrosion. Look under the dash display (where the PTO light is) and follow its harness to the main brain. Open all those connectors and inspect. Consider packing dielectric grease into the holes before putting the connector back together, then they will probably never corrode.

I had to remove my instrument panel for another task and doing so I found a mouse had nested there for awhile but (luckily) it did not appear to cause any problems. Worthwhile to have a look in there just in case.

Good luck.

I vote for a loose wire. Can you find and access your fuse panel? There might be a fuse associated with a mid pto.
I am probably wrong, but I doubt that L had an option for a mid pto.

SUCCESS!

Removed and cleaned all the fuses and found the "Key Stop" (#9 fuse for the ROPS L4330) blown. Replaced it with a like 5 amp fuse from the spares slot and the Mid-PTO light is off and the tractor starts like it always has!

Thanks for the help, I appreciate it!

Awesome.

5A is a 'tiny' fuse, it's pretty easy to blow one of those. It certainly could blow again. Maybe another member can tell you whats in the Key-Stop circuit and you can follow it to look for wiring problems that might have blown the fuse.

I find it odd that the MID-PTO light turns on when you blow a key-stop fuse and wouldn't rest on laurels at this point. But you can certainly do that :D sometimes you gotta just take what you can get.

Got the tractor loaded up now getting ready to go get my MIL's chicken house.

When I get back, I plan to look at the panel connectors and see if there is something going on - like the remains of a mouse nest or corrosion on the connectors or whatever.

How hard is it to take off the instrument panel?

Thanks,

FYI, those Grand L's can and do come equipped with Mid PTO. It is an option of course.. Just like on my Kioti. I don't have it, there is just a plate over the hole where it installs. In my opinion my tractor is too dang big for a MM Mower, but there are other things like snow blowers and brooms etc. that can run of of a Mid Mount PTO.

Several people have had this same type of incident on other Grand L's including me on my Grand L3130. Check the fuses in the main box and the fuses next to the battery. Check the harness going up to the right fender area from under the floor board for any cut or shorted wires. I never did find what caused my keystop fuse to pop but it has not done it since.

I would guess that the "Key Stop" circuit is for the interlock switches (seat switch, PTO, possibly clutch, etc) that could shut the tractor off or prevent it from starting.

Make sure you replace the spare fuse :D
